Trust Me, It Matters

Now may the God of peace, who brought the great Shepherd of the sheep, our Lord Jesus, back from the dead through the blood of the new everlasting covenant, perfect you in every good work as you work God’s will. May God do in you only those things that are pleasing in His sight through Jesus the Anointed, our Liberating King, to whom we give glory always and forever. Amen.Hebrews 13:20-21 (The Voice)

When you feel led to do something for someone, please don’t let excuses hold you back. If God puts an idea in your head and tells you to pursue it, it may seem small and insignificant at the time, but you never know how it might impact a life.

Today I heard a story about several children accepting Jesus Christ into their hearts in a neighbor’s house. And the way it all fell into place was a beautiful work of God. It didn’t start out with very many kids, but God multiplied it. And it was originally planned for another location, but God led these ladies (with a heart for these kids and serving God) to a new location. And as a result, hearts were touched.

It’s easy to hear this story and think, “They’re just kids. Who knows what that meant. Will it really impact their lives? Did they really understand what was being explained or what was happening?” I say an unequivocal YES!

The reason I can say that so assuredly is that I accepted Christ into my heart at a very young age in the exact same way: a little, informal Bible School type setting in someone’s house. Those simple hours of activities, singing, Bible study, and an invitation to accept Jesus into my heart positively changed my life forever, and I am so thankful!

So I want to say to those who are acting on God’s leading, trying to do what He’s guiding them in their hearts to do: Please keep walking in God’s leading and don’t let anyone (including Satan, other people, or even your own inner thoughts) tell you what you’re doing is insignificant and wouldn’t matter if you didn’t do it.

I also personally want to thank these ladies from the bottom of my heart. I have no idea or recollection who exactly it was that led me to Christ in that little home gathering when I was a child. That was many years ago, on my aunt’s street, and I no longer live in that area.

Although I can’t recall the details and the faces, I’ve often thought of that experience, what it meant, and how it changed my life for good. I wish I could go back and thank the lady or ladies involved.

But since I can’t go back in time to thank those who led that little home study, I say THANK YOU to all those in present day, like the ladies in this story, who are doing the same for other kids today. Years from now they may not remember you or the specific details of that day, but they will remember how God used you to touch their hearts and bring them into His Kingdom.

So keep on keeping on, friends. Continue to do what God leads you to do, no matter how big or how small it seems. Because trust me, it matters. What you’re doing for Jesus matters!
